I'm simply facinated.... by Olympia M7!

I just can't stop admiring this beautiful piece of antique metal!

This typewriter, which dates back to the 1920s-30s , is simply a masterpiece! Type it, and you will be brought back to the industrial age, the inventive period of civilisation.........and perhaps you may even feel like one of those inspectors in trenchcoats.....

Just to touch a bit on the background of this piece.....we found it at the regional flea market in Vienna. What a stunning bargain.......we never thought we could grab such a valuable artpiece at an unbelievable price!!!

Look at those BEAUTIFUL keys. Hit them.....feel them....and you could feel they are robust and you will recognise immediately that this machine required lots of genius efforts before it became an amazing office equiptment. Non-dependant on electricity, I think we should use it presently in view of our recent energy crisis. Ribbons are reusable and charming.

Oh....those good ol' days.....Oma is constantly in my Mum's mind while she reminisced about the times when Oma worked in OUB as a typist. Indeed, old stuff like this will always remind us of history and the people we know.

Some Xmas pictures 2007

Angels, Angels ..... everywhere.
Don't they have a lovely flair?
On my tree, I hang it
This particular one that fits
My mood of the season,

Is here for a good reason
To celebrate Xmas with everyone
In any suit, missing no one,
To the poor and the rich
To the healthy or the sick
Here's wishing all the love & care
Christmas joy is everywhere !

That's me kissing the Xmas tree---Lovely, isn't it ? We had a great time decorating the tree with glittering Christmas balls, birds and golden angels.Decorating is one part of the traditional fun, but the best is laying of presents under the trees. Of course, when it comes to opening them, you can easily imagine my urge to confirm many guesses over the weeks !

FONDUE : (Steamboat) Just one of a kind in Austria. Although it looks quite the same, we prepared , cooked and served differently. Lots to tell. But one thing for sure: we had lots of lovely condiments ,fresh salmon, prawns, my favourite tofu....etc etc. My father let out many "mmhs" after every bite. We had to fight over the last bowl of soupbase while Mama watched
helplessly. My papa simply loves Fondue and will not stop loving it ! ! !

And now, may I present my first ever WanTon made today. It looks srumptiliumptious, and I dare challenge anyone to try, but not my mom because she has witnessed how I made them. (Hihi-----Hi hi hii .care for one ? )

Stuck in Neutral....by Terry Trueman

A touching story with a breath of irony and humour.....

Shawn is 15, has a family and a loving brother and sister. He goes to school like a normal teen.
But Shawn has celebral palsy. At birth, a tiny capillary burst in his brain at exactly the wrong place. This means that he can't move his body at his will. To the word outside, he seems braindead. He has epilepsy at times, which involvs in involuntary fits. Some think his life is miserable. In fact, his father plans "to end his suffering" by killing him......

This story tells us about Shawn, the real boy trapped inside a dummy, unable to talk, which no one will ever know. He tells us about how life is like, his talents and experiences . He is a genius, learning to read by looking at TVs or picking up language with his sister, and remembering every single experience in his life.
If Shawn's father kills him, he will never know the "real" him.....

The book has a meaningful message. Children which are suffering from similar diseases like Shawn's should be properly understood. One would never know whether "ending their suffering" is the best thing to do. In Shawn's case, he is determined to live on.

The author, Terry Trueman, has a child like Shawn. He inspired him to write such a meaningful, touching book.

Fever

Hier der Text zu dem wohl bekanntesten Jazzhit des Jahrhunderts. Fever.

"Never knew how much I love you

never knew how much I care

when you put your arms around me

I get a fever that's so hard to bare

Ref:
You give me fever

When you kiss me

fever when you hold me tight

Ohhhh. Fever.

In the morning, fever all though the night

Sunlight's up the daytime

moonlight's up in the night

I light up when you call my name

And I know you're gonna treat me right
Ref.
Romeo loves Juliet

Juliet she feels the same

when he put his arms around her

he said ' Julie baby you're my flame

Ref.

Captain Smith n Pocahontas

They had a very bad affair

but when his daddy tried to kill 'im

she said "Daddy daddy don't you dare!"

Ref.

So now you've heard my story

Here's the point that I've made

Chicks were born to give me fever

Be it Fahrenheit or Centigrade."

Hi Ee....
Today is the 2nd June and I did not forget your important day.
It's boring to write birthday cards all the time.....perhaps writing my wishes to you in the blog may be a new, innovative way to greet someone's special day.

The following is my self-composed version of a birthday poem specially for you.....

"I have a special Auntie, she lives in Wuxi.
She lives with Temporary.
She enjoys her life there with her husband.
She lives with Temporary.
Cooking curry is her favorite pasttime as curries aren't available,
She lives with Temporary.
What a joy, what a sacrifice, she made to be there,
She lives with Temporary.
Today she celebrates her B/day with her husband and Temporary
But she's going to miss Temporary in 2 years' time,
as she can't bring
Temporary to SINGAPORE
What a pity.
But Temporary is temporary anyway
Temporary never wants to meet with Permanent because Permanent is boring.
Don't you think so?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EE. HAVE A GOOD STAY WITH TEMPORARY.

Florenz (Italy) URLAUB

Ein wunderschöner Kaktus

ein Mais-fressendes Pferd/ Zucchini / Der "Il Duomo"

Florenz......traumhafte Stadt....was soll ich sagen?

Pixs with Omama

At Dae Jang geum's village. I was dressed up as Jang Geum
and Oma as Huang hou, or Queen Su Yi
Oma enjoys her Ginseng chicken

Something short and cute about my Oma

This is my dear playful Oma when I had a holiday with her in Korea, Aug, 2006.
She's cute, isn't she?
..........................................................................
Here's a poem I composed when I was 9.yrs old.....It's about my Oma and....wrinkles.

Every month a wrinkle more

It will open your nice pores

My oma is cute with her wrinkles

But hers don't look like barnacles!

She looks very nice with her wrinkles.

But the only thing

that doesn't wrinkle is her NOSE!!!!

Dae Jang Geum- the Jewel of the palace

Indeed, a marvellous piece of history ever revealed!

Dae Jang geum, a kitchen maid in the Palace, later turned into a highly honored medical lady doctor, became an unprecedented history of Korea.
Jang Geum was a little girl when she accidentally exposed her father as an officer of the palace who had killed the Ex-Queen, resulting in the pursuit of the authority to kill him.
This incident led to immense political upheavals thus giving the young Jang Geum an abnormal environment in the palace to live in.

When her mother died, Jang Geum was left all alone. Only relying upon her instincts, she survived all by herself through thick and thin.

The story ended up with a mix of romance, power struggle and persistence to excel
amidst greed.

I particularly enjoyed the film music, the themes, the lyrics and the beat of the traditional drums. It's rhythmathic and creative, fitting to various parts of the story.Viewers, pay special attention to the "Kitchen music" that rhymes with the chopping knives, pots and pans !
If you enjoy Erhu, Guzheng and drums, this movie will touch you.
DON'T MISS IT !

Farewell

Another sweet, but sad piece of music I wrote, this time in Minor key

It's you, it's you,
When I felt you in your arms like an angel.
Tonight, when I look into the stars
I know that you left me

REF. You, you brightened up my days
I couldn't leave you then- I was so amazed by you
Now I'm waiting by the phone
I know you've left me all alone

You are the passion of my life

Here is one of the pieces I have composed. It's a slow ballad......

As I'm sittin here all alone
not goin' out, not answerin' the phone
that's when I think of you, you being here
and I know I love you so.

REF: You, the passion of my life
without you I won't survive
and I won't just let you go

You, the angel of my dreams
you satisfy me
and I know I love you so....

When I'm all alone by sea
in a small boat, feelin' free
that's when I think of you, you being here
and I know I love you so.

REF.
